Beach? In the Desert???

When we started this trip, I told the girls that we would not be stopping at any beaches... we would be touring the interior of the US without any opportunities to see the ocean or sandy beaches. Well, it's a good thing I brought their buckets and shovels anyway, because yesterday afternoon we went to the beach. Lake Powell is an enormous lake on the Arizona-Utah border. It was created by a dam that is just a bit smaller than Hoover Dam. Our campground borders the lake, and we can walk down a long sidewalk to get to a sandy beach. In the desert. With huge cliffs jutting out of the water. Very cool. :)
